As someone from NJ that's not up north I will tell you besides the concrete jungle grime of North Jersey there are some very, well let's say, not New Jersey areas in Jersey. The Jersey Devil is a symbol of the Pinelands (I've been to it's birthsite) a vast area of thick pine forest in the center of New Jersey, barely touched by many, and the few touchings are that of generations of blue collar poverty and real living. The entire Rt.9 run along the Pinelands is a thick, murky saltswamp. We sludge
